Family Work
Hill Croft School sees the unique challenges our families face in raising and supporting a child with severe learning difficulties. Tina supports our families, working alongside class teams. She is available Monday to Friday in the Family Room.
The Family Worker can provide support and training advice, signpost to agencies, and provide guidance to the parents/carers of children and young people who attend Hill Croft School. But most of all, they can simply be a listening ear for parents and carers who just need someone to talk to.
The Family Worker also runs our Parent Group which any parents or carers of pupils are more than welcome to attend. Parent Group helps parents to find community and friendship as well as support from other parents in school. Groups often spend time sharing experiences, finding out useful tips and techniques and an opportunity to chat to like-minded parents/carers.
Individual meetings can also be arranged.
Courses and information evenings are arranged to provide knowledge and understanding in areas which help to support everyday living with a child with Special Needs such as Paediatric First Aid, Makaton Training for Parents/Carers, and Positive Behaviour sessions.
PARENT GROUP 2024-2025
The Parent Group is held fortnightly on a Wednesday morning 10.30—12.00pm in our Family Room in school. Refreshments will be provided and it is an opportunity to get to know other parents and carers.
Parents are welcome to attend - please email tdonaldson973@c2kni.net to confirm your attendance.
