Hill Croft School

Easter Letter

To our whole school community,

As we close for Easter, I wanted to take the opportunity to sincerely thank you all.

We believe that this has been by far, the most challenging term of the whole pandemic. We have had 136 positive cases of COVID19 since the start of January. This has resulted in last minute decisions for classes to be split over a range of days, led by our capable LSAs providing supervised activities, and as a last resort closed. Where we have had dozens of substitute staff working across school, they have often become sick, and it has not always been possible to offer safe levels of staffing.

I do not underestimate the challenge that this has posed for our families as they try to manage their many commitments. Please be assured that we have always made these decisions based on the immediate safety of your child/ren and the information we have had, very often at the very last minute.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this time, especially when you didn't always see the whole picture across school. Thanks to all the grandparents, friends and extended family who stepped in at the last minutes to help. Despite this disruption, the pupils have continued to thrive and most often carried on regardless! They amaze us!

I sincerely thank the whole staff team who have worked tirelessly this term. Despite illness and disruption, they have shown patience, flexibility, loyalty, commitment, and even good humour throughout all of this. They are a strong team and a credit to the school.

I hope you all have a happy and healthy Easter. We look forward to term 3 and hope for less disruption and opportunities to have you more involved in school life again.

Once again, thank you for working with us during this most difficult time, and for your commitment to our school community.

Take good care,

Roz McFeeters
