Strike Information January 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

Day of strike action by all Education Unions on 18 January 2024.  

It is the intention of ALL unions associated with our school to strike on 18 January; NAHT, NASUWT, UTU, INTO, Unison.

You will have seen coverage of this on the news and be aware of the reasons for the strike. Where it is disappointing that we are at this stage, again, it is hoped that this widespread action will have an impact.

I have completed a risk assessment which considers the impact that this action will have on the health and safety of pupils, staff, and visitors, to determine whether it is possible to operate the school safely on the day.

In conjunction with the Board of Governors, I have determined that:

Hill Croft School will be CLOSED for pupils on 18 January 2024.

Clearly, this is a difficult situation, which will cause disruption. I ask you, however, to be understanding. Taking the step of strike action is not something that any member of the school staff undertakes lightly. Those on strike will have thought long and hard about their decision and will also lose pay for the period that they are on strike.

The staff in our school are invaluable to the learning, development and safeguarding of your children and I, along with the Board of Governors, feel strongly that they should be paid fairly for the essential and very challenging jobs that they do.
